Jorogumo - “Oh [REDACTED], Where Art Thou?”

This is a creature and walk cycle I created as a part of my thesis for college. The design is based on a jorogumo, a spider-like, goblin, ghost from Japanese mythology that can transform into a beautiful woman. This jorogumo is an element in a larger 3D animated landscape. I rigged and animated a walk cycle for the creature, which I based on the stride of a giraffe. The jorogumo is a massive structure compared to its environment, as I wanted it to possess a looming, mysterious presence.

The creature was molded, rigged, and animated using MAYA.
